1.0 THE COMPANY
The company was incorporated in 2022 and is registered as body corporate
status with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia. The company founder is Ir.
Choong Kar Fatt. The founder has over 25 years of experience in civil &
structure consultant company and more than 15 years practicing as a
professional engineer registered with BEM and as company director in
consultant body corporate. The founder has vast experience in structure
design for development project, setting up team of engineers to undertake
project of various sizes and operation of consultant firm. In setting up
this company, the founder utilises his experience to fine tune and improve
the company system and operation to suit the ever changing demand of client
and market, with strong emphasis in operational and design efficiency with
attention directed to providing effective service to client to OPTImise
project design whilst FITting the needs of the
project intend.
The company practice covers the entire scope of civil and structural
inclusive of engineering master plan study. The specific areas include
hotels, shopping mall, landed housing, high-rise condominiums/
apartments/offices, factories/warehouses, infrastructures of road, drainage,
water supply and sewerage.
2.0 THE COMPANY DIRECTOR/FOUNDER
Ir. Choong Kar Fatt
Ir. Choong KF holds a Bachelor of Engineering (First class honor) from
University of Malaya with his research paper titled ‘Fracture Mechanics
Parameters of Malaysian Timbers’ being selected to be published by the
university. He is a registered member with the Board of Engineers Malaysia
since 2007. He became a company director for a body corporate registered
with the Board of Engineers Malaysia in 2007 uptill today (SY Perunding Sdn
Bhd).
Throughout the years in consultant office, he extensively involves in
structural design and as well as acquaint himself with other
engineering-related work and design such as civil work design & submission,
periodical site supervision, external co-ordination work, internal
co-ordination work, in-house design software development and drafting system
development.
Superstructure designs that he has done include low-rise building and high-
rise building, including hotels, shopping mall, landed housing, high-rise
condominiums/ apartments/offices, factories/warehouses, infrastructures of
road, drainage, water supply and sewerage. Structure framing designs that
have been adopted include conventional beam/column, flat slab with/without
pre-stress, transfer beam/plate, shear wall with/without transverse wall.
Basement design is also part of his past and current design scope.
In fulfilling projects’ requirements, he was involved in many foundation
design work (e.g shallow foundation and deep foundation), earth retaining
structure design and slope stability checking.
The deep foundation design works that he has accomplished include spun pile/rc
pile/ bored pile/micropile/timber pile/pile raft design with extensive
involvement and supervising in various installation method like hydraulic
hammer/injection/a-frame hammer/boring with case and without case. Selection
of pile size and capacity has been careful evaluated for material
availability and cost for every kilonewton pile capacity. Pilecap design is
carried out with consideration of all serviceability limit before detailing
the requirement of pilecap top bar. In many projects, pilecap has been
designed without top bar while complying to design requirement. Curtailment
for pilecap side bar beside curtailment of main reinforcement has also
implemented wherever the design criteria allows for it.
The shallow foundation design works that he has adopted in project includes
simple pad footing, combined pad footing, raft foundation and strip footing.
Besides involvement in basic design job, he also participated in checking
duties which involve providing checking and advice, with report for design
optimisation as well as design safety.
The constant diligent in design work, perpetual exploration for technical
know-how exploration and experience in design software development, has
equipped him with an effective concept in engineering solution with the
awareness of the significant in improving design productivity, while
maintaining the quality of service provided.
3.0 SELF DEVELOPED SOFTWARE
Computer software is extensively used since the beginning. The founder has
previously developed hundreds of tool at the very early stage in spreadsheet
and word format for design, drafting and office administration.
Besides the series of commercial software, the following tailored suit,
window based software, have been developed to further strengthen the firm’s
ability to do fast and economical design.
